Numerous Sigma Chis stood eagerly outside the Colvard Student Union tonight at 9pm to hear the results of the 2008 SA Student Executive Elections announced. The offices at stake during this election were SA President, Vice President, Treasurer, Attorney General, and Secretary. Two Sigma Chis were candidates in this election: Ross Weems ran for the Treasurer position while Blake Jeter was a candidate for Attorney General. Both candidates were nervous as they awaited the results.
Sophomore Blake Jeter defeated his opponent by a margin of 61% to 39% to seal the Attorney General post. Results were not as favorable for Ross as he was a candidate in a three way race for treasurer where no candidate recieved 50% of the vote. Therefore, a runoff election will be held next Tuesday, February 26, 2008 between Ross and Will Moon, a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
